By an amazing quirk of luck, today Helen and I both found ourselves with a free Saturday. Even more amazing, a friend of Helen's sent her an email last night at 10:34 pm asking if we'd like to join her, her big happy family and an assorted group of friends to canoe and kayak down the Kansas River. Sure!

We even stopped for a sandbar party.
Kids went too.
The weather was perfect as we paddled from Silver Lake to Topeka. We ended up near the Governor's Mansion at the Kaw River State Park.
It was a blast.
