Speaking of old ... and at the risk of totally boring both of my blog followers ... take a look at our 40" wide GE Hotpoint Range. It's about our age ... circa 1950s. Even so, it's pretty snazzy. It features a SUPER-MATIC POWER SAVER 2-4-8 burner. (No kidding.) It also has double side-by-side ovens and buttons we've never used. The clock and timer still work perfectly.
We like old things. We've had this baby for decades. Last night we figured out how to use the self-cleaning feature. Wow! It really works. It looks almost new. Helen is sooooooo happy.
As it ends up, vintage stoves are quite the rage. People collect and restore them. There are web sites. There are You Tube videos. Some sell for thousands of dollars! Yep, we need to treat this old friend with more respect ... just as we should all old friends.
PS. I know, I know ... I need to get a life.

I remember cooking things on your stove. Surprised you still have it, but then again, I know it doesn't get lots of use :)
I had cobwebs in my prior stove. Now with my new snazzy stove....I have NEW cobwebs!
Hello,
I came across your blog while searching for tips to clean my HotPoint. We have the exact same model!
Do you happen to know the model number? I can find the serial number and catalog number, but not the model no.
By the way, yours looks much better than mine on the inside!
Thanks.

I saw the blogger's photo in a Google search. I have the same old Hotpoint and love it. Would like to know more (how to clean it, care for it) and hope Dan will get this message and respond. I don't know how to use a blog. mjwinter@comcast.net
Hello! We have the very same range. We use it regularly and it works great. The only problem we have is that we know nothing about the Super-matic Power saver, it's always been on 8 since we inherited with the house we bought. I'm curious, do you know anything about it or do you know how to get a hold of a copy of the manual?
I just bought a house that has one of these. Haven't even turned it on yet, but I'm very excited about it. It even still has the original owners manual with it! If anybody needs directions, I have them.

If you have the manual I would really love to get a copy. Let me know if this is a possibility.
Thanks in advance,
Denita
I would like one too. Alton
I love this stove and just by chance found your blog. A window into a family on the otherside of the planet. Thank you for sharing, and happy belated birthday. Greetings from France.
